Thanks to all the dedicated recyclers who braved the heat and dodged raindrops to help garner signatures at the Fair: Nancy Kelly, Donna DeLuca, Dorothy Macy, Dick & Kathy Hummel, Pam Ortega, Lou Conwell, Ruth & Vaughn Jaenike, Libby Damon, Judy Chapman, Joan Gregg, Bob Whittenbarger, Jack Cosbey, Brett & Kelly Bensley, Sylvia Barry, Mary Ann Tabor and last but not least, 12 year old Isaac Dallas, who collected 60+ signatures at the same time he was collecting signatures for Lincoln Log Cabin! Watch for his name in political lights 20 years from now!
Friday update on Isaac: He was back again! State Representative Chapin Rose happened to come along and Isaac asked him to sign a Lincoln Log Cabin petition; they got to talking and Rep. Rose gave him his card and issued an invitation for Isaac to come to Springfield to be his page. After Rep. Rose walked away, I asked, "Do you know who that was?" Isaac didn't; we explained and impressed upon him that he really should follow up on that invitation!
Update: As of Monday, 9.1.08 we have over 700 signatures in hand, with 25 petitions still in circulation. Those 25 outstanding petitions have the potential for 300 more signatures! CAN WE REACH 1,000 SIGNATURES ??! We've extended the petition-signing time to mid-September, to be able to garner more EIU faculty.
If you would like to circulate a petition, email dkhummel@gmail.com and we will get one to you.
